愛しさのコントラスト

ENG title: The Contrast of Loving

The you who has changed along with the colors of the wind
Wraps every moment with maturity
In this reverberating summer

I don’t know when we’ll stop holding hands
As one long shadow, we laugh

What are you looking for, with your unsuspecting eyes
The future you’ve seen, show it to me too

More, the contrast of loving
At the rate of a deepening season
With soft shadows, I decorate this love
The day I decided not to let you go
I know that was not a mistake
I will protect this brilliance I want to protect
And walk with it

The two of us have gotten stronger, gotten weaker, so
This floating feeling is like an awakening dream

Gradually, it becomes normal for each one of us
And reasonable for your eyes to pour out overflowing tenderness

For you not to be scared, I will embrace you,
Tell you with my heartbeats that what we have is “right now”

With a stronger contrast,
I’ll teach you my feelings
With a serene look, let’s dress this love
With just a bit of your hair sticking out,
With just the unfolding sunlight,
The meeting of the new us,
Let’s repeat it today

More, the contrast of loving
At the rate of a deepening season
With soft shadows, I decorate this love
The day I decided not to let you go
I know that was not a mistake
The brilliance I want to protect, from now on
I will walk with it
I will walk with it

  • Translator’s notes: Originally dated 05/13/16! Kanji source.
  • AHAHAHAHHA OH GOD, OH GOD??? This really looks more innocent than it sounds, I swear, THEY REALLY SOUNDED LIKE SIN IN THIS
  • Verse 1’s holding hands line is actually “the borderline of us holding hands, I dunno when” or smthn like that…actually, would that have been better than the contextual TL I went with…hmmmm
  • “Hitomi” is ‘pupil’. Chose to go with “eye” instead for less awkwardness.
  • はなさない could be either “not let go” or “not speak”. I chose the second one cuz WELL IT LOOKS LIKE THEY GOT DOWN TO BUSINESS, DIDNT THEY. HMM HMM. …my head in the gutter aside, yeah, it didn’t seem like they broke up, so I went with this!
  • Last line of the chorus was “I will protect the brillance I wanna protect, and walk with it” As in, he’s with his S.O. every step of the way, and will keep walking with her. (I keep using “it” ‘cuz he’s referring to the ‘brilliance’, but the brilliance is his girl, so…yeaaaaaahhhhh)
  • The word “teach” in “I’ll teach you my feelings” could also mean something along the lines of “show”, but…if used with ‘feelings’, this is usually a word used to imply…some things…uh, well let’s just say at the very least smooches are gonna happen…(OR IS MY MIND REALLY JUST IN THE GUTTER????)
