Sunny Shiny Days

The spinning, spinning, revolving Earth,
Is sparkling, sparkling, shining
A cheerful, sunny heart,
Today, and tomorrow too, we’ve got good weather (Hey!)

Haa…
Sunny shiny days (let’s make smiles!)
Haa…
Sunny shiny days (from now on!)

Stretching out a bit further than this is impossible, I know that, but (I wonder why?)
I still think I won’t be able to see the view (What now…)

That’s right, recently I haven’t been laughing (That’s–)
Being busy is a wonderful thing, though (–lonely)

The compassion you gave me, when you pass it on to that kid
A “thank you” and a very lovely smile are what you’ll get

The spinning, spinning, revolving Earth,
Is sparkling, sparkling, shining
A cheerful, sunny heart,
Today, and tomorrow too, we’ve got good weather

It’s not enough, the path in the road,
Look at your dreams, the blue us
Let’s look for the hanamaru,
The only one in the world!

Today, and tomorrow too, we’ve got good weather!

The future drawn by a kid (By you–)
Can the me right now properly approach it? (I wonder how)

I would just look at the neighboring lawn (or something)
Even though this sore loser is from a long time ago (how sad)

From time to time, it’s also fine to start taking breaks
The back of someone who came first is sometimes there to teach us

You definitely don’t have to be perfect,
It’s all right staying this way.
You’re charming because of your flaws,
So, let’s go!

Twirling, twirling, circling miracle
Overflowing heart-pounding,
Excitement, let’s make it come true,
Rainy weather is here!

Sunny shiny days,
Sunny shiny funny days – surely, tomorrow will be clear!
Sunny shiny days,
Sunny shiny smiley days – we’ve still got stuff to do!
After a downpour, is a beautiful rainbow
If you fall – it’s all right!
If you feel down – it’s all right!
Excitedly, anxiously, let’s try mixing it up!
Haa…

The spinning, spinning, revolving Earth,
Is sparkling, sparkling, shining
A cheerful, sunny heart,
Today, and tomorrow too, we’ve got good weather

It’s not enough, the path in the road,
Look at your dreams, the blue us
Let’s look for the hanamaru,
The only one in the world!

Twirling, twirling, circling miracle
Overflowing heart-pounding,
Excitement, let’s make it come true,
Rainy weather is here!

Today, and tomorrow too, we’ve got good weather!

Haa…
Sunny shiny days (let’s make smiles!)
Haa…
Sunny shiny days (from now on!)

  • Translator’s notes: Originally posted 06/12/16! Kanji source.
  • “Hanamaru” refers to how the Japanese teachers usually draw flowers with spirally centers to mark tests as “very good”. I looked em up, they look really cute! The closest example I can think of is how I used to get “very good” star stamps on my schoolwork in prep school.
  • The word in parenthesis after the line after the lawn was “—nante”, which could mean either “(I would just look at the neighboring lawn), something like that” (if used as a sentence ending), or something more along the lines of “what the hell?” (as an interjection); I didn’t see which of these ones could be the better fit cuz both could possibly work, so I just chose the first one that came to mind.
  • The line about “someone’s back” – the gist was that you can borrow from the experiences of those who came before you (hence, the people whose back you see – the ones in front of you) to learn in your own life experiences, but yeah, it sounded less clumsier in my head.
  • A confusing thing: chorus two has “doki-doki” (onomatopoeia of heartbeat sounds) and “tokidoki” (an “exciting feeling”, a “heartbeat”). I chose to translate them differently from each other (despite them practically being the same thing) because the first line was referring to the ‘doki-doki’ being “overflowing”, and the second line was ended by “let’s make it come true”. Context makes the sentence, that kinda thing.
